HOUSTON COMETS WELCOME RED HAT SOCIETY AND TEXAS CHALLENGE TONIGHT


WHO: The Houston Comets will welcome the Red Hat Society in attendance at tonight's game in honor of the Texas Challenge, a basketball team of senior women ages 65-90, who will play 3-on-3 games prior to tip-off and during halftime.
WHAT: New York Liberty vs. Houston Comets
WHEN: Tuesday, August 7, 2007; Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Toyota Center

The Texas Challenge features a team of women ages 65-80+, including winners of the 2007 Senior Olympics held in Louisville, Kentucky. The Challenge's ages 65+ squad set a scoring record with 52 points during Senior Olympics competition.

The Red Hat Society is a network of women from all walks of life dedicated to showing the world that there is fun after 50. Its mission is to gain higher visibility for women and to reshape the way they are viewed by today’s culture. Formed nine years ago, RHS currently has chapters in all 50 states and more than 30 countries, creating a world-wide sisterhood intent on touching and enriching the lives of its members.

The Houston Comets 2007 season record now stands at 10-18 with six games remaining in the regular season. After tonight, the Comets will host the Sacramento Monarchs on August 10 and the Chicago Sky on August 16 with 7:30 p.m. tip-offs at Toyota Center. Three road games remain: August 11 at the San Antonio Silver Stars, August 14 against the Detroit Shock and their final game of the regular season on August 19 at the Los Angeles Sparks.
