Kay began playing piano when she was four years old (first time exposed to a piano - that “gift“ thing) - she had a mother who possessed  a great passion for music of all types, loved to sing, and kept the 78’s going on the old Victrola…..(her very favorite was  The Great Caruso!). ……..Next up for Kay were French horn and trumpet in  the junior high and high school bands  (along with singing in choirs and school plays) ….A full music scholarship  took  her to McNeese State University  in Lake Charles  where she continued her music studies in band, college and city orchestras, ensemble, voice/choir, stage /big band and her own trio playing for on -and- off- campus- weekend events ….  Then came marriage…family and business responsibilities   The chance for a real music career was put on hold for several decades….but  in the early 90’s, after children were grown and gone,  she set forth to actively  pursue that personal dream and passion once again!!   (Kay is proud of her three daughters, Ann, Karen and Erika  and three grandchildren!)

Kay has enjoyed success as a performer in the Dallas area as a solo artist (vocals, playing two keyboards for a full-band sound)….as a duo with Eugene “Worm” Halton, sax player, and other greats around Dallas, playing in clubs, restaurants, hotels,  country clubs, etc. for private and corporate events……  as a standup singer/entertainer  for special events  (most special and favorite, “The Ladies Salute Sinatra” at Sammons just after Sinatra’s death) …as a composer…as a conductor…as a TV and radio personality…as a record artist and producer…(new release, Dec. 2002 -  “KC.Singin’ & Swingin’”    (her own tunes)  - for info…www.kayseamayer.com and  as an actress.    She has also written music and appeared in many  commercials …Kay performed in concert at Sammons.. April 2, 2003.  “Those Great Old Songs”

After  the events of  9/11/01, Kay wrote a song, Let Freedom  Ring, (a tribute to 9/11)  -  It is the featured song on her new CD as a solo version……Let Freedom Ring  has also been arranged for choir and brass ensemble/percussion .  It has been performed by several choirs and groups…in which Kay has conducted on occasion - Kay performed Let Freedom Ring  live on Fox 4 TV - Good Day Dallas, on September 9, 2002 in a television tribute to the events and lost lives of 9/11.  Let Freedom Ring  is to be performed in January, 2003 in Dallas at a city-wide Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration  (sung  by the DISD All-City Honors Choir…approx. 170 voices)    The Stonewall Jackson Elementary School Sign Choir in Dallas (in which her grand daughter, Erika Laine, attends)  has performed this song several times ,  and will continue to sign and sing  throughout the remainder of the school year for special occasions in which they are invited to perform.   Kay’s high school alma mater, Hamshire Fannett High School near Beaumont in south Texas,  choir and band performed this song in October of 2002 in concert in  which Kay was guest conductor.    ( Information on sheet music and choral/band  arrangement can be obtained  on her website:  www.kayseamayer.com)   Solo version is on her new CD….KC… Singin’ and Swingin’  (her own songs)  - also  includes a track.

Kay had the honor of performing her composition of Let Freedom Ring in Philadelphia, on July 4, 2003, Independence Square,  at the “Let Freedom Ring” National Bell Ringing Ceremony of the LIBERTY BELL and has been invited back to perform once again at the July 4, 2004 Bell Ringing Ceremony  where she and the Philadelphia Boys Choir will perform Let Freedom ring..the featured song of the Bell Ringing  Ceremony.

Kay attributes a great deal of her learning and knowledge about songwriting and the music industry in general to her membership and association with the Dallas Songwriters Association.  “ Active membership in this association  is very helpful to anyone wanting to write and better understand the music industry.”

2003 found Kay continuing her joy in  writing …recording and playing,  and sharing her music with anyone who will listen,  and is presently working on new music for a patriotic album project.

“IT’S NEVER TOO LATE…listen to your spirit - listen to your inner self!!!  …follow your personal dreams and passions!!!  Pick up that paint brush…pick up that pen, write a book..write a song…learn to play a musical  instrument!  . ..Everyone has a purpose in life….and I believe that true  happiness and spiritual fulfillment is realized when one discovers and develops their own God-given  gifts and talents and shares them with others!   Get passionate about  life - give it a go….and experience your own true JOY and BLISS!!”  Kay Seamayer  (KC)  (2003)    kayseamayer@MSN.com    www.kayseamayer.com  6/2003
